Our most recent request was for a custom built trailer for hauling granite counter tops.

Saturday, November 5, 2011

A loyal customer called and asked if I would extend the tongue on a House trailer that he had just purchased. I said sure, but lets look at it first to make sure that it is doable. From the front of the trailer to the center of the hitch was 4 feet long and it needed to be 6 to clear the flat bed on his truck. After some deep thought he got what he needed and then some. The tongue now has more support to the main frame instead of the cheesy way it was before, a place for 3 batteries and more room to get them out.

All new and ready to go!

Up at 4:00 am again to get in line for many hours of punishment, not real sure why we do it, but its a lot of fun.

No its not low lying clouds nor is it fog, that is a crap full of dust just hanging there in the brisk morning air of Ely Nevada.

The second loop took me only 59 minutes to complete. But on the third loop I got a flat tire 25 miles in and had to milk it back to the pits in first gear, that took one and a half hours. That makes for one sore butt.

Thanks to Bonneville Off Road Racing.

Well it’s been some time since the last post but it has been somewhat busy with odd jobs, kids, summer and life. Rebuilt a couple of bikes, much like all the others so I did not think it would be worth taking pictures of. However, there was one bike that is worth some pictures.

A friend of ours came to me with a problem on a Mountain bike. He wanted to put disk brakes on it and the rear did not have any way of mounting it, so he thought of us. Those of you who know us, know it’s not very often we turn down a job. The more thinking involved the better it is, now he has disk brakes.

I finally talked myself into selling the Monster CR500 and started looking into the KTM's. I have rode a few in the years past and I really liked how smooth the power and the ride was. So I found one, it is like riding a cloud on dirt. Love it.

My sweet wife has supported me and been by my side on all of my endeavors. Both good ones and the dumb ones, but none the less she has been there. So for father’s day she went out and got us pit crew shirts. Here is the top of the line pit crew for E custom racing!!

Not real sure what we are doing at 5:30 am, take the flash away it is still pretty dark out. Starting to stage and waiting for the first rider to feel comfortable enough to start. The first rider left the starting line at 6:01.

6:14 rolls around and the bike in front of me just left. They start a new rider every minute, this is the longest 60 sec. of the whole race.

6:15 he drops the flag and the clock starts on my time chase.
This is the only friend I can find that is dumb enough to go out and try to out run time with me. Now we are both hooked!!
Some encouraging support for 124 miles of hell.
This is the last thing our fabulous pit crew sees for the next hour and fifteen minutes.

124 miles, 3:06 minutes later, I have meet the limit of my body and mind. At the end of all this you literally hurt in places that you cant imagine or see.
Special thanks to B.O.R Racing and all of the volunteers.

He really has a great idea here. Put it in your hitch to carry the overload, get to the park or beach and unload it from your hitch and use it as a wagon.

These may be available for purchase soon.

As you can see the tire came uncapped and acted like a 70mph blender taking out the fender, inner wheel well, and twisting the front bumper, doing some major damage before I could get it stopped.

The aftermath... and this is after I pulled the fender out of the way to change the tire to get me off the Freeway.

After a week in the body shop and 5 days waiting for the Rims and Tires to show up, its all done and looks as good as new.

The best in town...... not many people take true pride in there work anymore but I can say that these guys do!!!

I'm sure that after the rebuild it will look pretty close to the same as below but with a bunch of new parts. Guaranteed to last for many years and kids to come.

Look I fixed it!!!!

As the reconstruction begins I hope that all the parts go back where they came from!!

This is what can happen when you neglect yearly maintenance.
Toys are fun but can cost alot if not kept up.

Ya just like the big ones... not running so well!!!

Finally all back together and runs like a champ!!
Lets hope that it will hold together for this years racing.

Started on a spring tune up on a KX500 and pulled the air box apart and there was a little surprise sitting there stinking.

A little better look from the one below, ya it is the the one that was all stripped down, finally got it all put back together and she purrs like a kitten.
